Wonderful Things: Afternoon Tea, Busted Concert and more!

I was treated to an afternoon tea for two gift experience for Christmas which was super lovely and as I am a big foodie and a big tea and coffee drinker I was super excited to get it booked up. I went with a friend and we had the most amazing afternoon tea; with soup, hot crumpets, finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam and of-course lots of teeny tiny delicious sweet treats and hot beverages. Anyone that knows me well knows that anything ditsy and floral print is right up my street and the decor inside was just beautiful. It was such a lovely day, I would definitely recommend Jelly Pickle Jam if you are local to Evesham or are visiting.

I really like Yankee as a brand, but I just buy their sampler votive candles these days as it gives you a chance to see if you like the scent for just £2, rather than investing in a jar costing around £18. If I'm honest I've found that some Yankee scents aren't very strong and have been a bit of a let down, but not this one! Macaron Treats smells gorgeous and brightens my mood when its burning; it reminds me of times from when I was young - its just a lovely, sweet scent.

I love having false nails on my nails, it is probably one of favourite 'pamper me' type things to do. I've never been very good at growing my own nails, and after using false nails so much in the past, my nails are really weak and tend to break. I have given false nails a rest for a while so I can look after my own nails a little bit better. I was challenged recently to try the Renunail 3 Step Kit* out to see if my nails would strengthen in four Weeks. Included is their original Nail Strengthener, Nourishing Oil and their Nail Strengthener in pink. I've been using this kit for probably over five Weeks now, and I've noticed such a difference. You simply apply the Nail Strengthener every day for one Week, remove on the seventh day and then continue this pattern for the next three Weeks. Alhough my nails haven't grown all that much, they haven't broke and they do feel stronger and look in much better condition than before. I will be purchasing these products once they've run out as they have worked really well for me, so these have definitely been wonderful products for me this Month.

I am big Busted fan (13 year old Zoe was completely obsessed with them back in the day) and having seen them for the first time in over ten years last year on their comeback tour, of-course I had to buy tickets to the latest tour too. They were brilliant as always; we were standing this time and I always think its a much better atmosphere compared to seating. I think Busted will always have a big piece of my heart, regardless of what anyone else thinks, their music really makes me happy and reminds me of being young. I didn't take any photos while I was there, I try to enjoy the moment when I go to concerts (plus being a tiny 5'1 I can't really take any decent photos as I cant see the stage too much!) so here's a selfie of me wearing last Years tour t-shirt.

The Best of: Sleek

It is no secret I am a big fan of budget beauty brands. Of-course, I do love to delve into the luxury beauty world too from time to time, but I am that kind-of person that tightens the purse strings a little bit and tries to find duplicates or cheaper alternatives to the high end brands. One brand in particular that I love is Sleek. Their products are incredibly affordable; but this does not reflect in the product- their products are just as good as the next high-end make-up brand.

Their eye shadows in particular are of a very good quality, with the shadows being highly pigmented, soft, creamy and easy to blend. I will continue to recommend Sleek's eye shadows until the end of time! A firm favourite eye shadow palette of theirs is the Storm palette; a favourite of many I believe. I love the neutral shade range as well as a few shimmery greens and blues. This is definitely a palette I reach for on a regular basis.
Another product I think is amazing from Sleek is their corrector and concealer palette. I am not a concealer or corrector pro by any means, but this palette works like magic to hide my dark circles, conceal any pesky spots and, best of all, the powder included in this nifty little palette ensures a long lasting coverage.

What are your favourite Sleek products? Do you have any recommendations?

Skin Care Discovery: Lotil Cream

Lotil Orginal Cream has been a product I have seen in the shops for the longest time; yet I have never picked it up. I knew it was one of those cult beauty firm favourites, and recently learnt that the cream has been around for one hundred years, with the formula never changing. My skin is usually classed as a combination skin type rather than more dry or more oily, but as of late it has become a lot more dry and irritated. I know that Lotil is said to be brilliant for dry skin and eczema, so I was hoping it would do great things for my skin.

I have been using this cream as a day and night cream (sinking into my skin after my morning skin care routine, and applying a thicker layer before bed at night time) and it seems to have really helped to combat the dry, patchy areas of my face. My skin does feel softer and I am definitely going to continue using this product in my skin care routine. It is super affordable too, I only wish I had tried it sooner.
Available to buy at Boots for £3.59.

Products I Always Go Back To

I featured this very product on my blog way back in 2012 (!) and have since repurchased it a few times. It is brilliant value for money, and the shadows last on the eyelids for a good few hours. I love the selection of natural shades, making it the perfect go-to palette for almost any occasion.

Lush Twilight Bath Bomb, £3.75
Twilight has been my favourite Lush bath bomb for a good while. No wait, of all time. This turns the bath water a beautiful shade of purple, and the scent of lavender helps me to relax and settle to sleep after a pampering bath. It is something I always go back and repurchase as I know its such a good product, I cant help myself.

Soap and Glory Clean, Girls Body Wash, £6.50 for 500ml
For me, Soap and Glory are one of those stand-out brands which I am always adding to my shopping basket. Their Clean, Girls Body Wash has been a firm favourite of mine for absolutely ages - I'm talking Years. I love the scent, Mist You Madly, so this body wash is just perfect and also leaves my skin feeling and smelling super gorgeous.

What products are you always going back to?

Wonderful Things #2

Hello everyone, I am back Today with a second installment of my blog series; Wonderful Things, where I will be sharing some things I think are wonderful that you might like to know about. I love reading 'round-up' blog posts like this, I find it so interesting to see what people have been up-to and what they have been enjoying doing. Here are just a few little things I have been enjoying recently.

Sweet Scented Shower Creams
I am a huge fan of Imperial Leather bath and shower products, so when I saw that they had created a Sweets line in their shower creams I knew I wanted to try them out. Marshmallow smells soft and comforting, Spearmint is refreshing and minty and Sherbet Lemon is my favourite as it smells zesty and fresh. They lather so well and are really good value for money. I have tried all of them now other than Fruit Salad which I haven't managed to hunt down yet.

Cosy Nights In
There isn't much that I enjoy more than having a night in with a book, a listen of my iPod, or an hour or so binging on Netflix; accompanied with a cup of tea and my warm and cosy gear. I have been loving these Lounge Socks* from Heat Holders so much recently, they are super soft and warm. They have a turn over top and a non- slip grip on the bottom, so they are perfect for lounging around the house in while still keeping your feet super cosy. They look so cute too! My current read is How To Stay Alive by Matt Haig, it is proving to be a really interesting and helpful book.

Hot Chocolate
I love a good hot chocolate, and have been truly indulging in my favourite hot chocolate, Maltesers Malt drink. It tastes delicious - even better with added marshmallows!

What have you been loving recently?

TV Shows I've Been Loving #2

I enjoyed sharing my favourite things to watch on the box a few Months ago and thought I would turn it into a little series every few Months. This Month I haven't really been watching any dramas but there are a few on my list that I definitely want to start watching soon. A lot of the shows on my list Today are from a few Months ago now, but I love to rewatch! I have been sticking to more reality shows and light hearted comedies - what have you been watching?

Mount Pleasant | Sky
I have watched every series of MP so I was looking forward for series 5 to start in 2015. It doesn't disappoint either - I watched the first two and found them hilarious! I still need to catch up on the rest of the series.

This Is England 90 | Channel 4
Shane Meadows brilliant creation was back for the final time and it was amazing as always. This Is England is one of my all time favourite films, I absolutely loved following their lives through the Years and I was both happy and shocked with the outcome of TIE '90. I want another series!

Gogglebox | Channel 4
I personally love this show as I find it hilarious and just love the people on it, their one - liners have me in hysterics! My favourite people on the show are Steph and Dom and Stephen and Chris.

Great British Bake Off | BBC
I absolutely loved the show this Year, I love to see the challenges set by Mary and Paul. The winner was so deserved too!

Eat Well For Less? | BBC
I really enjoy watching documentaries focused on the cost of living, and this programme followed families on their weekly shop to help them cut costs on their food and drink. It showed the amount of food that goes to waste and how much money you can really save on your food shopping bill. I thought it was an interesting watch - I picked up some great recipe ideas too.

Being Human | BBC Three
This is an oldie but a goodie - BBC Three have been replaying Being Human from the very beginning recently and I have to be honest I have been loving re-watching it again! The first two series are my favourite and it brings back great memories from the first time round watching it!  If you haven't watched it before, it is based on three main characters - a ghost, a werewolf and a vampire. I love it.

Derek | Netflix
I have been watching this on Netflix recently and I find it both hilarious and heart-warming. Ricky Gervais created a masterpiece with this in my opinion; which is a mockumentary type drama which follows a carer; Derek, around the elderly care home he works at.

What TV Shows are you currently watching? I'm looking forward to the return of Stella and Benidorm!

2015 Make Up Favourites

I haven't written a favourite's post in a while, so as we have just seen in the New Year I couldn't think of anything more fitting than writing my round up of all of my favourite beauty products from the last Year. I scuttled around the house collecting all my favourites; and I managed to choose one eye shadow product, one mascara, one base product and two lip products.

First up we have my most reached for eye shadow palette, which is the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette. I use this palette most days. I find it perfect for just an every day look but also a great palette to have as you can create so many different looks with it. The mascara I have enjoyed using the most has been the Clinique High Impact Mascara. This gives good length and thickens the lashes, without looking clumpy. I am quite fussy when it comes to mascara but this is a great every day mascara. I couldn't decide on just one lip product so I had to include two; the first being Soap and Glory's A Great Kisser Lip Balm. I'm not sure if S&G still stock this, as I haven't been able to find it, so I am guessing not. This is a really nice lip balm which gives a little shimmer to the lips, keeps them coated and smells of peaches. I use this on top of matte lipsticks to give a more glossy look. I have a back up tin of this, I am so glad as it doesn't look like I will be able to buy it again! Anyone that has known me for a while knows I have always been a big fan of Cheryl's makeup looks. I bought the L'oreal Paris Color Riche Collection Exclusive Nudes in Cheryl's Nude in hope that I could recreate her lovely nude lip; unfortunately I did not transform into Cheryl overnight (!) but this lipstick is a beautiful nude and one I have reached for the most this Year.
I tried the Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation for the first time this Year, and I really love it. After being a huge fan of Rimmels Match Perfection foundation for as long as I can remember, it is great to see they stock another good foundation which is a good match for my skin tone and gives a good medium coverage.

What are you favourite beauty products from 2015? Any recommendations to share?

September Favourites

The Body Shop Satsuma Hand Cleanse Gel
I love a good hand sanitzer and always have one on the go, but I prefer fruit scented ones. I love The Body Shop Satsuma Collection but I hadn't realised they had a hand gel in the scent too! It smells so fresh and is perfect popped in my handbag.

Botanicals Mineral Bath Soak*
I've recently been enjoying having relaxing baths on an evening more than a quick shower on a Morning, and have been using a load of new bath products to pamper myself with. The Botanicals Mineral Bath Soak is a lovely product that I add a scoop into my bath and I find it super relaxing and floral scents are just beautiful. The product is 100% natural and has recently won a Green Parent Natural Beauty Award - well deserved I think.

Sunkissed Rapid Tan*
Sunkissed are my all time favourite tanning brand so it is no surprise to see them appear in a Monthly Favourites post of mine. Their Rapid Tan is a brilliant mousse tan which isn't streaky and looks so natural. I love it!

Dermocare WWF Safari Plasters*
This is something a little different that I wanted to include in my favourites post this Month compared to my usual beauty products. I am that clumsy person who is constantly tripping up and knocking into things - so plasters are something I use a lot. Who wants boring plasters? These Dermocare WWF plasters are awesome and I love having funky safari print plasters - even better that the brand supports WWF.

Current Face Cream Favourite

Just a quick post today, I have a firm favourite product of the Month for you Today.
I always have a face cream on the go - in fact, I have quite a collection of face creams to choose from. I have been using the Australian Body Care Tea Tree Oil Balancing Face Cream* recently and wanted to share a few thoughts with you as I really like it.
I have been using the cream as my day cream and have been applying it to my face on a Morning. The product itself leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturised and I just love the scent of Tea Tree Oil. I feel that this has helped reduce the amount of blemishes on my skin.
The face cream is available to buy for £11.05 on the Feel Unique website here.

July Beauty Favourites

Estee Lauder Double Wear Maximum Cover Camouflage Makeup for Face and Body
I have been using this product as a foundation for the past few Months, and I really love it. I use it sparingly as I feel I don't need to use a lot, and it blends so easily into my skin and looks flawless. Its a great match for my skin tone and I'd definitely repurchase this again. Although it has a hefty price tag, it is perfect for when I have those 'bad skin days'.

Clinique Take The  Day  Off  Makeup Remover For Lids, Lashes & Lips
This has to be one of the best products I have tried for removing eye make-up. It is incredibly gentle and in my opinion, removes around 95% of my eye make-up, even waterproof mascara. I use it just for removing eye make-up mainly, but it is also a generally good make-up remover.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Nourishing Lip Balm*
I have been using this every evening for a good while now. I apply a layer of product to my lips before bed, and I believe it really does work. My lips feel soft, hydrated and moisturised on a Morning, and I rarely have chapped or sore lips.

Sanex Roll On Zero% Extra Effective
Only recently have I began using roll-on deodorants again, after discovering how much I prefer them to a spray anti-antiperspirant. This is a really good one, which leaves me feeling fresh and clean for a long time. I have irritated skin, so a deodorant without any chemicals like this one is a must for me. The scent is pleasant and I've found Sanex to be one of the best brands I have come across for roll-on deodorant.

Maxfactor Colour Elixir Lipstick in English Rose
This shade is a beautiful rose pink; a shade I find perfect to wear any time of the day, and anytime of the year. The lipstick is well pigmented and has a great colour pay-off, doesn't bleed and lasts a good few hours without need of reapplication. As-well as lasting on the lips, it feels very creamy and I have found it be one of those lipsticks that are just so easy to wear.

Have you tried any of these products? What are your favourite products this Month?

The Best Hair Serums

John Frieda Frizz Ease Original Effects Serum  link | Superdrug Style Expertise Anti Frizz Serum link

Just lately I have been trying to make a little more effort with my hair. It usually just hangs (for choice of a better word) limp and lifeless, no matter what products I use in the hope of voluminious locks and shiny hair. Hair serum has been a really great way of helping to manage my hair.

The John Frieda Frizz Ease Original 6 Effects Serum (what a mouthful!) is great at combating frizz and controlling crazy hair. Only a little is needed as it goes a long way. I apply this mostly to the ends of my hair and work it through the rest; I usually avoid my roots and work the product into the length of my hair and this seems to work well for my hair. My hair feels and looks very smooth and silky after using this.

The Superdrug Style Expertise Anti Frizz Serum is another favourite hair serum. It is really affordable and works just as well as the more higher end hair serums. The serum helps to control the frizziness of my hair while enhancing my hairs natural shine.

Do you use hair serums?

Lime Time: Zesty Beauty Favourites

My favourite scent of all time is lime. I absolutely adore the scent. Other than coconut, lime is definitely my first choice when looking for scented beauty products. I love the refreshing fruity kick of the scent, it is so addictive!

Cien Lime Kick Shower Gel
One of my favourite lime scented beauty products is a shower gel by Cien, which is available in Lidl of all places. I'm not usually a fan of shower gels and tend to stick to shower creams as they usually lather a lot more, but this one lathers really well. It smells delicious and is a great way to wake me up in the Morning. The best of all, this shower gel costs less than 50 pence, that is right, less than 50 British pennies!

Locitanne Zesty Lime Hand Cream
I am quite a typical girly girl and I love hand cream. My hands are constantly dry so I always need a pick me up with a good old hand cream. I got this Loccitane Hand Cream free with Marie Clare magazine last Month, and of-course opted for the free limited edition lime version. It smells gorgeous and keeps my hands very hydrated, I definitely recommend this if you can get your hands on it.

Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Body Buttercream
I mention Soap and Glory quite a lot on my blog, and one of my favourite scents is their 'Sugar Crush' line. If you haven't tried any of the Sugar Crush products, they smell very zesty and fresh. I love this as it is an in-between of a body lotion to a body butter, so not too thick. The scent lasts hours after applying, and makes my skin feel very soft indeed.

Have you got a particular favourite scent for your body products?
Do you prefer fruity scents or floral scents?

Laura's All Made Up

I have been reading Laura's Blog for absolutely ages now, and it is still a firm favourite of mine. Her reviews are honest and her photography is so pretty. I love the way she writes; her blog layout is absolutely adorable and she loves a good beauty bargain (like me!) so i always find her blog posts relatable. Her blog is a really good read so if you fancy a nosey, here is the link!
Lauras All Made Up

The Love Of All Things Beauty

I have mentioned Clare several times on my blog previously. As well as being a super - lovely friend of mine, she is a fantastic blogger and I love reading her blog. Reading Clare's blog is like having a chat with a friend - her writing style is really friendly and she blogs about a lot of beauty - if you are a big fan of lipsticks click on her link because she loves a good lippie!
The Love of All Things Beauty

Lucyy Writes

Lucy's blog is another I have been reading for quite some time now - she writes real and honest blog posts - a personal favourite is her blog posts about contraception and the implant. It is refreshing to see blog posts which are factual, honest, inspiring and helpful addressing topics like this, which I don't feel are spoke about very much in real life. As well as blogging beauty, fashion, home-ware and lifestyle too, her blog is a good one - and if you love Lush, Lucy's blog is the place to go!

My 5 Favourite Beauty Products of 2013

Top 5 Beauty Products of 2013

This is up a little later than I hoped it would be, but Happy New Year lovelies I hope it is a good one for you. I have seen so many of these 2013 favourite posts flying around the blogging world, I really enjoy reading them and seeing what everyone else has been adoring in the year of 2013! Here is my little list, I have narrowed it down to just five products I feel are worth mentioning.

MUA Pro - Brow Eye Brow Kit: I love filling in my eye brows, and this little kit has been my ultimate sidekick of 2013. Infact, I think it is my favourite product of the entire year! It comes complete with mini tweezers, (which are fantastic by the way!), a brush and 3 powders for your brows, along with the wax. I use this product every single day as I find it to be the best brow kit I have come across so far; I even prefer it to the HD Brows Brow Kit! It is so affordable and such good quality, I cant recommend it enough.
Available at Superdrug for £3.50

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation: This foundation is a great match for my skin tone. I use Light Porcelain which is the perfect colour for my pale skin. I am super pale and find it very hard to find a foundation that doesn't look too dark or orange. This blends perfectly and gives a great medium cover finish. I have repurchased this about 5 times this year, it certainly is the best foundation I have come across so far.
Available at Superdrug for £6.99

Mac Powder Blush in Well Dressed (Satin): I was so excited to try this blush, as it is my first MAC blusher. The colour is very subtle and natural, it is quite pigmented. I find using the Real Techniques Blush Brush the perfect tool for applying this. It is the most beautiful pale pink which really suits my skin tone, I have worn it so much in 2013 it quickly became my favourite.
Available at Mac for £18

Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy 50ml EDP: I must be honest and say this is my first Juicy Couture perfume, and I bought it quite later on in the year, but I instantly fell in love with the heavenly scent and has fast knocked off all my other favourite perfumes. I find the scent very sweet and a little fruity, it lasts well all day. I cant wait to try out other Juicy Couture scents.
Available at Debenhams for £47

MUA Undress Me Too Eye shadow Palette: As you can see this palette is very well loved. I use this every day, I have hit pan on my most used shades. It is the perfect neutral eye shadow palette and is so affordable at only £4, the quality of the shadows is pretty amazing for the price, and all of the eye shadows bar one, are super pigmented and last all day.
Available at Superdrug for £4

What were your top 5 of 2013?
